Catching up
Writing
I recently attended a poetry workshop led by John Glenday for the AWC and came away inspired and wanting to write.
I've been reading the flash fiction contest entries for the AWC as their adjudicator this year and am wowed by what a diverse and talented group of writers they are. Meantime, I've been lucky enough to take part in the Kathy Fish Fast Flash Reunion weekend and write some flash fiction of my own.
My biggest success so far this year has been having a short story 'Grafted' accepted for publication in the 404 Ink magazine issue 4, which comes out this July (pre-orders can be made here). I am so excited to have something accepted by this young, positive, inclusive, Scottish press.
I have also had the following published: 'Warrior' a flash fiction in Retreat West's charity climate fiction anthology - 'Nothing Is As It Was', 'She Is' a poem in Ink In Thirds, a tweet length story in Story Seed Vault, 'Pilgrimage to a Ghost Township' a creative non fiction flash accompanied by a photograph in Ellipsis Zine, 'When You Can't Sleep Because There's Space Dust in Your Eyes' a micro in Speculative66, 'Stars in the Stairwell' a flash fiction accompanied by a painting in Burning House Press.
Going forward I have the following forthcoming: 'Earth Angel' in Drabble Dark Anthology (preorder here) , 'Counting Elephants' accompanied by a photograph in Rhythm and Bones Lit, 'The Green Dress' - a poem, in Nitrogen House, 'Rah Rah Rah' - a drabble - in DeadCades, an anthology of horror, and 'Winter Studio' - a poem - in Eye Flash Poetry's 'Dust' pamphlet.
